Shrimp Cocktail Napoleons

Napoleons are technically layered desserts, but being that this appetizer is layered, I’m sticking with the Napoleon name.  I wanted to give these little guys a regal name because they look so stately.  I mean, just look at that celery leaf, like a feather in it’s cap!  In my mind, they’re a perfect two-biter for a party platter.  They’re also easy to assemble as long as you have a small cup.  They can also be made ahead and kept in the fridge until that first guest arrives.

This is another recipe in the Traina Foods lineup, number 8 out of 10.  Yes, I came up with 10 unique recipes featuring sun dried tomato ketchup!  And guess what?  I have more ideas to spare!  That’s the power of a quality ingredient.  Only problems is that I have ruined my family for regular ketchup.  The Ry-guy actually threw out a half-used bottle of the standard stuff (whuuttt…?).  For the FCC required disclosure statement:  I was paid to create this recipe and take pictures of it and post it here.  But, I also really like this product…so do with that what you will.

Onward, Napoleons! (Full printable recipe at the bottom of this post.)

Traina Foods Sun Dried Tomato Ketchup

Place chopped shrimp, diced celery and Traina Sun Dried Tomato Sriracha Ketchup in a bowl and mix to combine.

Place diced avocado, red wine vinegar and salt in a small bowl and mix to combine.

Place diced orange segments and honey in a small bowl and mix to combine.

Shrimp Cocktail Napoleons

Using a small 4 oz round cup, place 1/6 of the oranges in the bottom, then layer on 1/6 of the shrimp mix, then 1/6 of the avocado mix. Press with a spoon to cause the layers to adhere to one another. Then place a plate on top, turn the cup upside down and allow the layered mix to pull away from the cup so that you have a beautiful layered appetizer. Place that on a dish and garnish with celery leaves.

If you’re looking to serve several of these on a plate, my suggestion is to turn the Napoleons out onto crackers, so that they can be picked up by hand.  Otherwise, they’re meant for single serving appetizers to be eaten with a fork.  Make sense or am I yammering?
