Have you had McDonald’s Shamrock Shake? I remember getting so excited for March when I was a kid just so I could get one of those neon green, minty shakes. I was recently reminded of this annual tradition and figured it would be easy enough to replicate the recipe at home, though slightly better for you. I used my favorite Turkey Hill vanilla bean ice cream (because I’m a nut for those little vanilla bean flecks), a little pure mint extract, some milk and a few leaves of fresh mint. Sorry McD’s, my version is better. I went for a cleaner, more authentic mint flavor. Sure, it’s not bright green, but it’s just as refreshing. These come together in no time at all. Literally, I made these live on air on Rosie on the House in two-mintues flat.
Watch as Blaise and I whip one up for you and discuss those pesky Leprechauns!

Real Mint Shamrock Shakes
If you’re planning to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in full effect not only will these be a great dessert option, but you can use up your leftover corned beef and cabbage in this pasty recipe. I wish you all the luck of the Irish and a happy St. Patty’s Day!
