I love cheese, bacon, and most especially ice cream. But, I also have a lot to get done in the course of a day and in order to maintain energy and good health in the face of comfort food, I rely on juicing. I posted some pictures of my juice a few weeks back on Instagram and some great questions came up.
What do you do with the pulp?
Which juicer are you using?
So, I decided to make a video and bring you inside my kitchen to do some juicing.
Juicing at Home
Did you watch all the way to the end of the video? Thing 1 and Thing 2 give their feedback on the morning’s juicing. The recipe for this specific juice is at the bottom of this post. Don’t forget to wash all of your produce first!
Also, as noted in the video, I’m using the Omega juicer. It’s the top of the line and the masticating process preserves the cell structure of the vegetables in your juice. It’s more expensive than most standard juicers, but it’s also the one you’ll keep and use…at least that’s how it has been for me.
What to do with all that leftover pulp? The internet is full of fun ideas, but I very much love this list from Vegetarian Times. Everything from composting to bulking up dips and soups. Give these ideas a ‘go’ and let me know how it goes. We’re typically composting it over here at Casa de Simon.
Do you have a favorite juice combo? A secret juicing hack? Please share! Or, if you’ve never juiced before and you decide to get into it, let me know if you have questions. I love comments and e-mails, so let me know!
